FAQ

I provide concrete solutions, specific behavioral suggestions and techniques, and explicit guidance and support to help you change any aspect of your life where you believe there is a need for improvement. For those clients who request my professional help I use a combination of therapeutic, counseling and coaching approaches including Reality Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt and Rational Emotive Therapy, traditional psychotherapy and several other approaches. My approach with you will ultimately depend on your personality, your learning style, the nature of your problem and on your level of motivation to change.

I can help you by phone, in person at my office, your home or office, or by a combination of phone consultations and face-to-meetings.  Give me a call and I will discuss with you your situation and we can both decide if I am the best person to help you.

There is no obligation in calling and all contacts are kept strictly confidential. When you call, if I do not answer, you can leave your name and phone number with complete peace of mind that your privacy and confidentiality will be strictly maintained.  I will return your call as soon as possible. I do not have caller ID, specifically so that you can choose to be anonymous until you and I have made the decision to establish a therapeutic relationship.

As a psychologist, psychotherapist, counselor and life and executive coach, I have extensive experience working with an extremely wide range of clients and in all types of situations. Accordingly, I am able to assure my clients that they need not feel awkward talking with me about their situation since I am sure you do not have a problem I have not already seen.

However, I limit the number of my active clients so that I can maintain the availability and flexibility needed by them.  I am "on call" and can be available to my clients 24 hours a day.  If you want to talk with me about providing you with professional services, contact me by calling (717) 737 9068, leaving a message at (717) 761 5989, or you can contact me by email using the contact form.

First Contact

I will listen with patience, sensitivity and compassion, and without being judgmental. The initial phone contact, for which there is no fee, will cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time to see if my unique, personally targeted approach will meet your needs.

This initial call provides you the opportunity to determine, at the very beginning, your comfort level with me and for me to determine the essentials of your problem. I will also determine what is needed to help you and, based on your needs and the needs of my other clients, whether or not I am the best person to help you. If you and I decide to work together, additional consultations will take place where, when and how you need and want them.

In a related vein, I recognize that if you start with a therapist and then for some reason do not feel comfortable with that therapist, you may feel awkward about ending the relationship. With that in mind, I want you to know that if you do not feel I am the right match for you that you can tell me and it will not hurt my feelings. Therapy is not about how the therapist feels and acts.  It is about how you feel and how you act.  If you feel it might be better to work with someone else, I will be pleased to help you find the person who is right for you.

I understand that you may have reservations about contacting a stranger to discuss personal and guarded areas of your life. Nearly everyone with whom I have worked has initially expressed concerns about being vulnerable. How do you know who to trust? How can you protect yourself from an inexperienced, ineffective, or poorly trained “professional”? How can you rest assured you will not be exploited?

I created this website to help answer some of these questions. I also extend to you the invitation to get in touch with me directly, without fee, for the initial phone call to address any concerns you have. This provides you with the opportunity to put your concerns to rest from the very beginning. I remind all my new clients that, given the breadth of my experience, you do not have a problem I have not already seen and you do not have to be worried about relating your problems and concerns to me.

There is no obligation in calling.  In fact, when you call, you need not even reveal your name. I do not have caller ID, specifically so that you can choose to be anonymous until you and I have made the decision to establish a therapeutic relationship.

You have the right and ability to enjoy your journey through life in your own individual way and to be as comfortable and productive both personally and professionally as possible. These goals are within your reach. There is no reason for you to settle for anything less.

If you would like me to help you accomplish these goals, please call.  Outside of being with my family, there is nothing more satisfying to me than to help others achieve the happiness, peace of mind and level of productivity they want and deserve.  I welcome the opportunity to use my expertise, experience and wisdom to improve your life.
