FAQ

Eating problems are a major physical health and mental heath issue in the U.S. Just as an alcohol or drug addict uses addictive behavior for immediate gratification, for a sense of control, and to avoid negative feelings, a person with an eating problem uses food as a tool to deal with their problems.

Emotional Eating

Emotional eating can be grouped into Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Compulsive Overeating, Binge Eating and Emotional Eating.  This section of the website focuses on compulsive overeating, binge eating and emotional eating.  Since Anorexia and Bulimia typically require a more restrictive type of treatment than I provide, I do not treat these two eating disorders.  For more information about them visit the Anorexia and Bulimia links on the website PsychologistAnywhereAnytime.

Weight Concerns

Weight concerns include eating patterns, excess weight and weight control.  The issue of weight and obesity is a major concern in the U.S.  It is estimated that more than 65% of adults in the U.S. are overweight or obese and that in any give year more that 50% of all U.S. adults go on a diet to lose weight. For many people, it is difficult to lose more than a few pounds, and few succeed in remaining at the reduced weight.
